St Peter's Church
Welcome to the website for St Peter’s Church in Pebworth. The village is the most easterly in Worcestershire and has parish boundaries with both Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. You will find the church perched at the top of a small hill on the west side of the village where it can clearly be seen from most locations.
Our Ministry
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which He looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which He walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which He blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are His body.
Christ has no body now but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
The church family seeks to share God’s love and the good news of Jesus in their daily lives recognising that sometimes small and unseen things can powerfully communicate love: be that caring for a neighbour, supporting the local foodbank, nurturing the natural world, delighting in the garden or laughing with a friend.
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” John 10:10
Services and Activities
Like most village churches in a benefice, we share services with our sister parishes and therefore only have regular services every two weeks. Below you will be able to see the service rota for the current and coming month. Visitors are always most welcome!
Our Services
Family Service
Our family services are aimed at a wide audience… They run for about 40 minutes, generally on the 4th Sunday of the month, but do check because it may move to fit around special occasions. There are toys and games set out at the back of the church for the children and instead of a sermon, there will be story time… which is fun for the adults as well as the younger members of the congregation! We are also trying to include more modern hymns… so do come along to enjoy a good sing and maybe share a cup of tea or coffee with friends afterwards!
Holy Communion
On the 2nd Sunday of the month, there is normally a Holy Communion service which follows a modern version of the liturgy. Because we are currently in interregnum, it is generally taken by associate priest Fr Kevin Grumball, who is a great support to the parish. The service runs for around 60 minutes and everyone is welcome to partake either in the communion or come up to be blest. Like the family service, there will generally be tea, coffee and social chat afterwards.
Benefice Services
Like many rural parishes, the benefice joins for occasional shared services. Generally, these happen in months with a 5th Sunday, but they will also occur on special dates in the church calendar. As a result, we will host a benefice service at Pebworth about twice a year, and will have the opportunity to join with our friends and neighbours in worship.
Of course, we also get the opportunity to visit them too…!
The Church
The church is a lovely building and well worth a visit, be it to look around or to spend some private time in contemplation or prayer.
If you would like to find out more about this ancient and grade 1 listed building click on the picture.
Sadly, like so many rural churches, the building has to be kept locked as there have been a number of burglaries in recent years.
If you would like to spend time in the church, please contact us and we will try to assist and open the building for you…. Advanced warning would, of course, be helpful in this respect!
